It’s been a while. The pandemic is slowing things down. Spontaneous hibernations, quarantines, delays. But alas, we’re still here, and 2022 looks bright - at least concerning tapes.
After last year’s releases by ZEBULARIN, SCHWEBEN, F.F. TÖDTLOFF, LOPEZ/LOPEZ, and G.E.K., we are starting off the new year with a tape by OM’s household band DRNTTCKS. NEIN+NEIN features 5 tracks of unrelenting neolithic techno, primitive kraut jams and blissful repetition. After 10 years of releasing albums consisting rigourously of recorded and cut live jams without much additional glitter, they dove deep into multitrack recording. The tracks that were created are based on the band’s last live shows before the pandemic. Mastered by Isabel Schroer at OLO Mastering Berlin, who in the past also gave our tapes by LEVELS and LOPEZ/LOPEZ that magic touch. Tape is out now, after heavy delays at the tape duplication.
Also, Dicey, the person behind OM’s complete graphic output, did a mesmerizing video for the track IBUPROFANE EXISTENCE:
In February we’ll release the next tape, this time by cuban-american visual and sound artist Richard Vergez aka Night Foundation. With I Had A Feeling, he did one of my favourite albums of 2021 on one of my favourite labels, Nick Klein’s Psychic Liberation. He also runs Noir Age, releasing artists I’ve never heard of, AND his own work as a graphic designer is absolutely stunning.
But hey, listen for yourself and immerse yourself in Richard’s darkened dream world.
End transmission #13.
